Whether you seek to be a novice or expert, using social media is not an easy thing to do. It takes time, effort, and a little know how in order to run a successful social media campaign. Things such as not creating relevant and useful material, and not engaging with your customers, are just a couple things that can hurt your brand and company image.
This is a list of 3 of the best practices that can help you become a social media master:
- POST A VARIETY OF CONTENT – Posting a variety of content may be one of the most obvious, yet most overlooked practices when it comes to posting on social media. Post’s should include things that are valuable, relevant and interesting to your audience. These posts can include pictures or videos of industry specific content, company news, current events or things like community events. The main thing to remember is to post information that will be useful to your audience.
- ENGAGE WITH YOUR AUDIENCE – Everybody likes to have their thoughts and opinions heard. That’s why it’s important to respond quickly and kindly to all comments or messages people make on your social media sites. Responding to your audience can be as simple as thanking a new follower with a tweet telling them how you appreciate their support. Social media is a great way to build relationships. That’s why it’s important to respond to comments within 24 hours. It shows your audience you care about your customers and their opinions and thoughts matter.
- USE PICTURES AND VIDEOS – Visuals matter! Using interesting and beautiful images is a great way to get people to check out your website. Basically, social media has transformed into “visual” social media. People are naturally drawn to visual content because that’s how the majority of us learn and retain information. Photos that are shared on Facebook generate 53% more likes and users are more likely to engage with brands if they post pictures rather than any other type of media.
These are just 3 practices that should be used when posting to social media. A good rule of thumb to go by, is to just have fun. Remember that social media is all about being social. Social media is a platform that is used to connect with customers on a daily basis, so why not have a little fun with it?!
