Facebook always seems to be stirring the pot and serving up changes. This time, Facebook’s latest change could cause marketers and bloggers to sing instead of scream. Facebook announced yesterday their newest feature called Instant Articles.
What is ‘Instant Articles’?
Instant Articles are designed to allow publishers to publish their articles directly through Facebook’s mobile app. This kind of storage and sharing means that loading an article is now instant. Hence, Instant Articles. Watch this video from Facebook about Instant Articles.
What is the benefit?
The benefit of Instant Articles is that mobile users no longer have to wait for your third-party article to load and display. Instant Articles are instant and interactive. In addition to reduced load times, Instant Articles include moving imagery and auto-play video capability. Overall, Instant Articles are meant to enhance the user experience of Facebook’s mobile users.
What is the disadvantage?
The disadvantage of using Instant Articles instead of sharing your articles from your own website is that you will no longer be seeing that traffic coming to your site referred by Facebook. Since users will no longer have to leave Facebook’s mobile app, users will not be landing on your domain to view the article.
