Email marketing is the promotion of products or services via email. When email marketing is done correctly, studies have shown that it is one of the most effective online marketing tactics. Even more effective than social media! Today we’ve highlighted a few tips and tricks to help skyrocket your email campaigns.
1.Keep Your Call-to-Action and Main Message Above the Fold:
Call-to-actions are one of the most important pieces to email blast success. Therefore it is crucial to keep the main call-to-actions and the main message above the fold (virtual scroll). If not, then as many as 70% of recipients might not be able to see them. Also it is important to remember any call-to-action should be repeated at least 3 times throughout the email.
2. Link Wording
Consider using different wording for the hyperlinks in your marketing emails. Then, click into your email stats tab to track which links received the most clicks and use them for future eblasts. You can also try repositioning images such as logos and buttons. Try sending 3-4 different emails, compare the click-thru rates and see which links worked best. After determining your best performing links and images you now know you will be sending the right mix of links and images that will attract the most click-thrus, and ultimately the most sales.
3. Offer Your Customers A ‘Free’ Bonus
If running a newsletter, offer your customers a free bonus (such as an eBook, discount coupon, or special report) for signing up. Then, create an autoresponder to email them a link to that bonus at least one hour after they subscribe. Remember not to get carried away with ‘free’ but offering a free small gift is always appreciated and can grow your subscriber list in a hurry.
4. Write Persuasive Subject Lines
A great subject line should create a sense of urgency and should give readers an idea of what to expect once they open the email. Keep subject lines between 30-50 characters. It is also important to split test with subject lines. Take a look at email campaigns you’ve sent in the past. Which subject lines worked the best and gave you the highest open and conversion rates? You might find that for a particular topic there’s a general trend or subject style that resulted in higher open rates.
5. Tie Emails to Landing Pages
A landing page serves as the location your visitor “lands” on your website via your email. Your landing page should match the email in terms of headline, copy, and content. The look and feel of your landing page should match the email as well. Make sure you’re also utilizing tracking tools to see which emails and landing pages are performing the best.
6. Put Your Logo in the Upper Left-Hand Side of the Email
It is essential to let your customers know who the email is coming from once they open your email. Eye tracking studies have found that people instinctively look for logos in the upper left-hand side of emails. Put your logo in the upper left-hand side to ensure it gets the most visibility.
The last tip is do not forget your website analytics!
