Instagram, a social network that helps build brands share stories through imagery, has never been big into advertising like Facebook and YouTube. Instagram introduced advertising lightly in 2013, but as of recent marketers have asked for a way to tell stories in a more beautiful, sequenced way. Per numerous requests, Instagram is now offering a new advertising format called Carousel Ads.
Carousel ads give brands flexibility in telling stories by allowing users to swipe left on a particular ad that features multiple images and a link to a website of the brand’s choice. Carousel ads are meant to allow users to learn more about a brand or a product after they have been inspired by a sponsored photo or video.
The new format brings the potential of multi-page print campaigns to mobile phones with the added benefit of taking people to a website to learn more.
