Here at Stellar Blue, not only know website design, but we know GOOD website design. One may even call us experts. Throughout the years, we have been compiling a list of all must-haves in order to have a successful website. You may even call it our recipe for success, and we are sharing this recipe with you! So listen up and listen good!
#1 – A Headline, which should be at the top of the page, above the fold. This could be a tagline, or a couple sentences. The main goal here is to let your viewers know what it is that you do and who you serve.
– Should be powerful and resonate well with your target audience
– Should state or solve a problem in which your ideal viewer can relate to
– This will decide if your viewer chooses to stay or leave, so make an impact!
– Main goal is to remember that your site is NOT about you, and should be all about your ideal visitor.
#2 – USP, Unique Selling Proposition, MUST be easily viewed on your homepage. This is where you get to brag about your specialties, what sets you apart from the competition, and why your audience should trust you.
#3 – Use relevant content. This provides an added overview of your product or service.
– State the problem
– Relate the problem to your audience by asking what their lives would be like if they do not fix this problem.
– Ask what their lives would be like hiring, consulting, or accepting your business or service.
– Solve the problem.
#4 – Absolutely MUST have an “About” and “Contact” page where your viewers can do the obvious – learn more about who you are and your company, and contact you if desired. These pages will provide background and current information, where your business is located, and how to get in contact.
#5 – Include a professional picture of you and/or your team. It is said that a friendly face goes a long way with trusting who one does business with. After all, a logo, brand, or company can take you so far and at the end of the day it’s people you do business with.
#6 – Lead your viewer to where you would like them to go with Call to Actions (CTA) buttons. Never leave the viewer guessing as to how to get somewhere. “Learn More,” “Shop,” “Apply Now,” “Request More Info/Quote,” are all common Call to Action buttons that will never be outdated. They are simple and to the point.
#7 – A search feature can be very beneficial, especially with more complex websites. This allows your viewer to search within your website as to what it is they are looking for.
#8 – Once the wheels of doing business with your viewer are in motion; you must have a simple and seamless way of collecting their contact information. They liked what they saw and enjoyed reading about your company, so reaching out to them would be in your best interest. Joining a monthly newsletter, or having a contact form are a few simple ways to do just that.
