You have a site? Check.
You have a blog within your site? Check.
You automatically have a strategy? Not quite.
Lets take a few steps back before jumping into having a blog. You should have a game plan of how your business blog is going to serve you. Think about it, just because your shouting your message does not mean everyone can hear you, or wants to hear you.
Understanding a New Type of Strategy
Marketing has changed. More companies are turning to in-bound marketing with using e-blast’s, blogging, email newsletters, social media platforms, and online campaigns to convey their message and be found. In 2012, there where 245 million interent users in the US alone. Furthermoe, the Nielson reports’ predict that social media sites and blogs contribute to 80 percent of all active internet users.
Before you start creating content, you need to come up with a strategy or an idea so these users not only read your blog but want to continue reading and connecting with your brand. This is crucial, it is great if you have content out there, but if it is not relevant to your business or your business’ industry, it is useless.
Ask yourself or team members:
•What tone, and style, should our content have?
Depending on the type of business or organization you have, the content needs to be tailored to fit within your industry. If you have a more formal business, it might not be a bad idea to keep the content tone more reserved, and keep the style and look of your blog more formal. But if you have a more informal business, then try going for a more causal look and feel to your blog.
•Who is the target audience, and what do they want to hear about?

2) Brainstorm different ideas ahead of time.
3) Think about how to convert a visitor of your blog into a subscriber.
4) What social media channels will you broadcast your blog on.
These are just a few things that could be incorporated into your marketing strategy
