This fall, Square will begin processing credit and debit card transactions at every Starbucks store in the United States, says Square CEO Jack Dorsey.

Square turns any mobile device into essentially a cash register. This enables the simple idea Square was built upon–everyone should be able to accept credit cards anytime, anywhere and the simple technology should instantly adapt to any size business.

By accepting Pay with Square, Square’s mobile app, Starbucks will give its customers another way to enjoy an easy and fast payment experience at approximately 7,000 Starbucks stores.

As the app and corresponding services grow more sophisticated, customers will eventually be able to place their orders just by stating their names into their device with the app running.

The online press release read:

“Starbucks Coffee Company, with its leading mobile payment platform, and Square, the company revolutionizing everyday transactions between buyers and sellers, announced a broad innovative partnership to bring the best possible payment experience to both sides of the Starbucks counter.”
