Stellar Blue is armed to “wow” you with stats.
More email is read via mobile than on a desktop email client or webmail. Reported in June 2012, 36% of emails are now opened on a mobile device, 33% on desktop and 31% on webmail. With smartphone ownership tripling in the past two years, who is surprised by this take over?
Checking email on a mobile device has transferred from a “business blackberry” practice to a common practice by many! Ninety million Americans access email through a mobile device, with 64% doing so on a near-daily basis.
It is important to be aware of this shift in email consumption and adapt your email campaigns to fit mobile. If you do not mobile optimize emails, valuable sent marketing messages may be missed. Seventy percent of consumers delete emails immediately that do not render well on a mobile device.
But that’s not all, once emails are opened, very few are opened again later. So the 30% of people that do not delete your non-mobile optimized email probably wont even look at it again! More than 95% of emails are only opened on one device. Not many users open emails on mobile first and save for desktop later.
So how do you intrigue people to open your email? Make the subject line sound interesting. Thirty-eight percent of people say an interesting subject line is the most important reason for opening email on your mobile phone.
